Our caterpillar room children are aged two-three years. By this age, children are continuing to grow in independence. They may start to use more verbal communication, and so we
aim to provide an environment that is stimulating and challenging, but still providing reassurance and a place to rest if needed. We still provide a range of natural resources in this room, so that
children can experiment and develop their play as they wish.
This room also has its own nappy changing area, and as children being to toilet train, we have some child level toilets and sinks for them to use. We always work in collaboration with parents during
the toilet training period, and are available to give support and advice if needed.
In this room, we continue to encourage good table manners, and promote meal times as a sociable times. Children feed themselves, and have the opportunity to develop their independence, such as
serving part of the meal themselves, with support.
