Meet the team

Our work has one clear focus: your child's individual needs. In order for us to support your child's development in the best possible way, we employ people with different educational training backgrounds. They all attend regular further training courses, which enable them to bring new ideas and proposals to their daily work - ideas that will also benefit your child!

Tori Wilson

Nursery Manager

Hello, My name is Tori and I have been with Bright Skies since August 2016, since relocating from Scotland to be closer to family. I have a BA (Hons) in Business Studies and have been in childcare since leaving 8 years ago after realising that my passion was helping young children and babies to grow and develop. It was then I gained my HNC in Childcare and Education. I managed a nursery in Scotland for 3 years previously, and am looking forward to putting my stamp on Bright Skies

Bev Phillis

Junior Deputy Manager

Hi, my name is Bev. I have worked at Bright Skies for 10 years now. I started working in childcare when the youngest of my three grown up children started pre school, where I helped out as a Mum. It was here I found I liked working with children and from that I went on to gain my Diploma in Pre-School Practice. I worked at the pre school for 13 years before joining Bright Skies in 2006.

Fiona Taylor

Early Years Professional and SENCO

My name is Fiona and I have worked at Bright Skies since November 2014, although as a teenager I helped here during the school holidays as my mum worked in the preschool room, so it was lovely to come back!
Prior to this I have had 13 years experience in looking after children. I have a BSc (Hons) in Science and technology with primary education and I am an NQT. After finishing university I started working with a before and after school club run by a nursery. I then moved into working in the preschool room and spent several happy years watching the children grow and develop. I completed my Early Years Professional Status in 2007 which helped me to develop my skills as a reflective practitioner. I was the head of the preschool room for eight years before taking on the deputy manager role. I have an ILM Level 3 award in first line management and Level 5 NVQ Diploma in Management. I have a good knowledge of the early years foundation stage. I am committed to providing a stimulating environment to enable the children to meet their full potential.
In my spare time I am a brownie leader and I have worked at Guiseley Music Centre for the past 20 years. I also enjoy reading.

Ruth Birkett

BumbleBee Room Supervisor

Level 3 Nursery Practitioner

Hi my name is Ruth. I qualified with my N.N.E.B in 1990. I worked at a nursery in Headingly for 8.5 years, had 6 years with my family and then graced Bright Skies with my presence 10 years ago! I am currently working towards my foundation degree in Early Childhood Studies.

I am married with two teenage boys, so yes, I LOVE to come to work!

I danced from age 3 and at 19 and I was going to take my dance teachers exam but decided to focus on my nursery nursing instead. I still get involved in local pantos and I love to sing and dance, often incorporating this in to my planning for the Bumble Bees.

I love my job with a passion and I'm constantly learning different approaches to help the children develop.

Danielle Burke

Caterpillar Room Supervisor

BA Hons Early Childhood Studies

Hi, I'm Danielle. I've been at Bright Skies two years now and I hold a degree in Early Childhood Studies from the Unversity of Chester.

I have known for a long time that I wanted to work with Children and I worked at summer camps before starting at Bright Skies.

As a child and a teenager I was absolutely horse crazy and spent most of my time on the back of a pony! Sadly, when I went to uni I had to give my ponies up so I decied to take up womens football instead. I wasn't all that good and only lasted one season but I enjoyed the team aspect of it!

I love my job and especially love key person time and wtching as the children learn new thngs.

Briony Davisdon

Butterfly Room Supervisor

Level 3 Nursery Practitioner

Hi my name is Briony. I completed my BTech National Diploma in Children’s Care, Learning and Development in 2009. I then came to Bright Skies where I have grown and developed in my role as a Nursery Nurse. I enjoy being creative and I often research how I can implement these ideas in the baby room. I love to produce memories and art work that parents can take and treasure forever.

I think it is important to have a good relationship with the parents to help sustain the children’s routines and needs as at this age, the nurture of the child is of the upmost importance.

I am constantly refreshing my knowledge to provide an inviting and stimulating environment for the Butterflies to help them develop so when it’s time to spread their wings and fly to the next room they are physically and emotionally ready.

Gemma Hesp

Level 3 Nursery Practitioner

Hi, my name is Gemma. I first started working at Bright Skies in 2010 and passed my Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young Peoples Workforce in January 2016.I like working as part of the Bright Skies team, bringing my ideas to the everyday planning of activities and learning. I believe as well as helping the children grow and develop through EYFS, we can also learn a lot from them.

I love to spend my spare time visiting other countries around the world, but I don’t stop there! I try to bring back with me their cultures and beliefs and  implement this knowledge in to the nursery and planning where ever I am able.

My aim is to help the children in my care reach their potential so they are ready for the next stage of their development.
